Beer

I like Beer... Is there anything wrong with that? Some would say yes, and I would agree. There are "somethings" wrong with beer. But not everything. Lets comparer beer (or any other alcoholic drink) to Cheese Cake. Is it a sin to eat Cheese Cake? Well my waist line would say it is. But in all actuality I would eat Cheese Cake with the Pope and not feel bad about it. So it's safe to say, Cheese Cake is not evil. Is gluttony a sin? I think yes. (One I often repent for). So what is the difference between eating a piece of Cheese Cake and Eating a whole cake? Well first off there is the amount, but the underlying issue would be the motivation behind it. Are you eating to taste and enjoy it in a casual setting with friends during a social event, around people that hold you accountable. Or are you trying to consume the cake out of greed or to replace or mask feelings? I feel beer is no different. It is drunkenness that is a sin, not the mere act of enjoying a Paulaner Munchen Doppel Boch Salvator with a steak. With that being said anyone reading this is now free to formulate your own opinions about the topic. But we are not done yet. The entire reasons I wrote this post is because allot of guys enjoy beer. So since this is Guy Blog I will now suggest a beer of the week for those of you who occasional partake in a brew.

Today Beer is brought to you by: Paulaner Munchen Doppel Bock Salvator

Paulaner Munchen's Double Bach Salvator is a stronger version of traditional bock that was first brewed in Munich by the Paulaner monks, an order founded by St. Francis of Paula. Historically, dopple bock is high in alcohol and sweet, thus serving as "liquid bread" for the monks during times of fasting, when solid food was not permitted. Today, doppel bock is still strong—ranging from 7%–12% or more by volume. (So limit yourself because they will get you). Its color is a dark brown with ruby highlights and  has a large, creamy, persistent head to it. The aroma is intensely malty, with some toasty notes, and a slight alcohol presence.

All in all it is my favorite beer, and always classy choice.

Pay Freeze

There has been a lot of talk about the Government spending freeze and how the Military will not get paid until the budget is finished. This is all true to a point, I am also in the Military so it affects me directly. I do not like it one bit. However, this country is spending it's way into a depression and someone has to stand up to our spending deficit. I have been preaching fiscal discipline, so even though i may not like what is happening with my paycheck as the sole provider for my wife and two children, I must practice what I preach and make the sacrifice. Otherwise I am nothing more then a hypocrite. It seems we Americans, Conservatives and Liberals, alike believe in principles until it directly affects us. Well this is probably the first time my beliefs have become inconvenient, but I won't stop believing in my principles just because it will make my life more hard.  I believe the Military is an essential role and the Government should, if anything, increase our Military spending. (all of you anti Military people can just settle down, I already know you disagree so don't bother freaking out about my last sentence. Agree to disagree.) But this is the card I have been dealt and as much as I don't like it I am glad the majority of the people in congress I voted for are not caving on their principles, and have drawn a line in the sand. I fight for a lot more then a paycheck, I fight for a country where my kids have a chance to grow free, and be as successful or as poor as they chose to be. And that will never happen if we keep spending the way we do. It's gut check time.
